Leadership starts at school. Students do not need to hold big positions to become leaders. Simple responsibilities such as helping classmates, leading a group activity, speaking in assembly, participating in events, or managing classroom duties can build leadership.
Leadership qualities include confidence, responsibility, decision-making, teamwork, honesty, discipline, and communication. These qualities are useful throughout life.
Schools in the UAE can encourage leadership through student councils, house systems, competitions, group projects, sports, and community activities. Teachers should identify students’ strengths and give them opportunities to grow.
Parents should also encourage responsibility at home. Small duties can build maturity.
True leadership is not about control. It is about service, responsibility, and setting a good example for others.
